Grades of Canned Red Tart Pitted Cherries
- U.S. Grades A or U. S. Fancy is the quality of canned read tart pitted cherries that have at least the following attributes:
- reasonably good color;
- practically free from pits;
- practically free from defects;
- good character;
- normal flavor and odor; and
- score not less than 90 points when scored in accordance with the scoring system outlined in this subpart.
- U.S. Grade B or U. S. Choice is the quality of canned red tart pitted cherries that have at least the following attributes:
- reasonably good color;
- reasonably free from pits;
- reasonably free from defects;
- reasonably good character;
- normal flavor and odor; and
- score not less than 80 points when scored in accordance with the scoring system outlined in this subpart.
- U.S. Grade C or U. S. Standard is the quality of canned red tart pitted cherries that have at least the following attributes:
- fairly good color;
- fairly free from pits;
- fairly free from defects;
- fairly good character;
- normal flavor and odor; and
- score not less than 70 points when scored in accordance with the scoring system outlined in this subpart.
- Substandard is the quality of canned red tart pitted cherries that fail to meet the requirements of U.S. Grade C.
