Grades of Canned Whole Kernel (Whole Grain) Corn
- U.S. Grade A is the quality of canned corn that:
- Meets the following prerequisites (Table I) in which the canned corn:
- Has similar varietal characteristics;
- Has a good appearance;
- Is well cut;
- Has a good flavor and odor; and
- Has good tenderness and maturity for the varietal type.
- Is within the limits for defects as specified in Tables II and III as applicable for the varietal type.
- Meets the following prerequisites (Table I) in which the canned corn:
- U.S. Grade B is the quality of canned corn that:
- Meets the following prerequisites (Table I) in which the canned corn:
- Has similar varietal characteristics;
- Has a reasonably good appearance;
- Is reasonably well cut;
- Has a good flavor and odor; and
- Has reasonably good tenderness and maturity for the varietal type.
- Is within the limits for defects as specified in Tables II and III as applicable for the varietal type.
- Meets the following prerequisites (Table I) in which the canned corn:
- U.S. Grade C is the quality of canned corn that:
- Meets the following prerequisites (Table I) in which the canned corn:
- Has similar varietal characteristics;
- Has a fairly good appearance;
- Is fairly well cut;
- Has a fairly good flavor and odor; and
- Is fairly tough for the varietal type.
- Is within the limits for defects as specified in Tables II and III as applicable for the varietal type..
- Meets the following prerequisites (Table I) in which the canned corn:
- Substandard is the quality of canned corn that fails to meet the requirements of U.S. Grade C.
