- U.S. No. 1 consists of carrots which meet the following requirements:
- Basic requirements:
- Similar varietal characteristics;
- Firm;
- Fairly well colored;
- Fairly well formed;
- Fairly smooth; and,
- Not woody.
- Free from: Unusable material.
- Free from damage by:
- Soft rot;
- Growth cracks;
- Sunburn;
- Green core;
- Pithy core;
- Watercore;
- Internal discoloration;
- Oil spray;
- Freezing;
- Dry rot;
- Other disease;
- Insects; and,
- Mechanical or other means.
- Free from serious damage by: Soft rot.
- Basic requirements:

U.S. No. 2 consists of carrots which meet the following requirements:

Similar varietal characteristics;

Firm;
-
Fairly well colored;
-
Not badly misshapen;
-
Not excessively rough; and,
-
Not woody.

Free from damage by: Soft rot.

Free from serious damage by:

Soft rot; and,
-
Any other cause.
