Fort Peck Assiniboine & Sioux Tribes LFPA Plus Executive Summary

CONCISE OUTLINE OF PROJECT’S PURPOSE: We are requesting cooperative agreement funds for 24 months to purchase buffalo meat and cow meat, each animal will be taken to the local butcher shop for packaging into hamburger, stew meat, and roast. Locally grown produce, and locally produced dairy products all within a 400-mile radius of the Fort Peck Indian Reservation and within the State of Montana. Our need for cooperative agreement funds is based on the frontier nature of the Reservation (3 grocery stores, 72 miles away from the nearest Wal-Mart) and the impact of COVID on Tribal production, the drought from last year, and the extreme weather, combined with the changing seasons. ACTIVITIES: Purchase buffalo and cow meat, locally grown produce, and locally produced dairy products all within a 400-mile radius of the Fort Peck Indian Reservation and within the State of Montana.
