Grades of Frozen Field Peas and Frozen Black Eye Peas

1. U.S. Grade A is the quality of frozen peas that:
   1. Meets the following prerequisites:
      1. Has a good appearance;
      2. Has a good flavor and odor;
      3. Is practically free from grit;
      4. Has a good character;
      5. Weight of broken peas does not exceed 0.25 ounce (7.1 grams) for "White Acre" peas and does not exceed 0.5 ounce (14.2 grams) for all other types; and
   2. Is within the limits for defects as classified in Table I and specified in Tables II and III.
2. U.S. Grade B is the quality of frozen peas that:
   1. Meets the following prerequisites:
      1. Has a reasonably good appearance;
      2. Has a reasonably good flavor and odor;
      3. Is practically free from grit;
      4. Has a reasonably good character;
      5. Weight of broken peas does not exceed 0.5 ounce (14.2 grams) for "White Acre" peas and 1 ounce (28.35 grams) for all other types; and 
   2. Is within the limits for defects as classified in Table I and specified in Tables II and III.
3. Substandard is the quality of frozen peas that fail to meet the requirements for U.S. Grade B.
